Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. Here's exactly what we collect and why.

Plain English Summary

We take privacy seriously at Esus AI Trials. Here's what we collect and why:

  • Voting: We hash your IP address with a weekly salt to enforce 1 vote per day. We cannot reverse this or track you across weeks.
  • Problem Submissions: We store your email only if you submit a problem, and only to contact you about that submission.
  • Privacy-Friendly Analytics: We use Rybbit for cookieless, GDPR-compliant web analytics. No tracking pixels, no cookies, no user profiling.

IP Address Hashing

When you vote, we:

  1. Take your IP address from Cloudflare's CF-Connecting-IP header
  2. Combine it with a secret weekly salt
  3. Hash it with SHA-256
  4. Store only the hash (not your raw IP)

This means:

  • We can enforce rate limits (1 vote per day)
  • We cannot reverse the hash to get your IP
  • We cannot track you across different weeks
  • Even if our database leaked, your IP would be protected

Email Storage

If you submit a problem, we ask for your email address. We use it to:

  • Contact you if your problem is approved
  • Ask clarifying questions if needed
  • Notify you when your problem is selected for a mission week

We will never:

  • Send marketing emails
  • Share your email with third parties
  • Display your email publicly

You can request deletion of your email at any time by contacting us.

Analytics & Privacy

We use Rybbit for privacy-friendly web analytics. Rybbit is cookieless, GDPR-compliant, and doesn't track users across websites. It helps us understand basic traffic patterns without compromising your privacy.

  • Problem submissions: Retained indefinitely for transparency and archive purposes
  • Committee work logs: All runs, candidates, and evaluations are public and retained forever
